User settings not persisted between sessions, or lost on update (e.g. Experimental flag)

I find myself re-enabling the “Experimental” flag quite often, it would be nice if this setting could persist per-user.

Ah, yes, I noticed this too. It’s supposed to persist settings on close, but might not because now it never really closes
